General Guild Rules

So, what are our goals?

  • First and foremost. Have fun. That’s what we’re here for.
  • Be a fun, friendly relaxed guild for all age groups
  • Become capable of completing end-game content
  • Form strong alliances with other guilds
  • Be an honorable, reliable and respected guild.
  • Oh… and have fun.

General Conduct:

It is important to remember that while playing in a group, chatting in open channels or posting on the WoW boards that we represent the Village Idiots and our actions reflect the entire group. Please remember to show respect to fellow members and players by maintaining a civil manner in open chat and discussion boards. Village Idiots have always worked hard to maintain a fair, fun and trustworthy reputation. Keeping this reputation benefits us all by maintaining strong ties with other guilds and we all have more chance of being invited to groups.

Remember to keep your temper with group members and group leaders. If we have a wipe, a poor run, a cancelled run or a general error in a group, try to maintain civility. We can all lose our cool from time to time and that’s acceptable but consistent poor attitudes only hinder group morale. Please try to avoid the following activities also:

  • Spamming any of the WoW channels
  • Spamming of guild chat
  • Begging for money
  • Griefing

Guild Chat:

We want all members to be able to use this channel so it is important that we keep this channel accessible to all by keeping the chat friendly and clean. Please have fun in guild chat. It’s there so that we can all get to know each other, but please try to refrain from any language or subject that may cause offence.

Grouping (also see loot rules):

Whether grouping with guild mates, friendly guilds or PUG’s please remember to respect other players by:

  • Following the loot rules of the group.
  • Taking only your fair share of quest items.
  • No flaming of fellow players
  • Follow the wishes of the group leader
  • Be sure that you are repaired and have all the items that you will need.

If you are having problems in a group such as unfair looting or abusive behavior that cannot be resolved by contacting the group leader, it is  wise to simply leave the group rather than become part of a flame war. If you do find yourself in a group dispute, please contact a VI officer who will be able to help you out in resolving the problem. Avoid posting details of any dispute on the WoW boards. It’s much better if we can resolve disputes amicably. Remember to provide the officer with screenshots where possible.

Sometimes groups can go on for long periods of time and you can’t always stay for the duration. We know that real life is more important than WoW and sometimes people have to leave early. The only thing that we ask of you before leaving a group is please be sure to do all that you can before your exit. If you can Buff, Dispel, Heal or Resurrect a player before leaving, please do so.

Removal from Village Idiots:

Let’s not dwell on this section too much, but people should be aware of actions that will force the removal of a player from the guild.

  • Ninja Looting.
  • Griefing. Don’t ruin it for other players.
  • Persistent abusive behavior to guild members or other players
  • Persistent unsociable behavior
  • Use of power leveling/gold selling services
  • Use of cheats/hacks
  • Any other behavior that is deemed detrimental to the guild by the officers

Only on rare occasions have we been forced to remove people form the guild. Lets keep it that way.

Contribution to the guild.

Attendance: Although we like to see all of our members on regularly basis, we do not force any kind of attendance rules. Play when you can or when you want, that’s no problem!

Assistance : There are times when we all need help in this game and asking for help isn’t a problem. However, please be sure that you are willing to assist others if you’re in a position to. Remember how you felt when you needed assistance. Please don’t expect assistance without repaying the favor.

Recruitment:

We have a great bunch of people so far and we are always on the lookout for new members. New members should be directed to this website to register and complete a guild application. New members are recruited on a probationary period. If new members fit in well with the group then they remain as part of the guild at the discretion of the officers.

We encourage all of our members to give a helping hand when it comes to recruitment.

It’s the end… finally.

I know that’s a lot to take in, but as our guild grows it is important that we maintain our reputation on our server(s). The Village Idiots have many friends in some great guilds and we want to keep it that way.

We have been extremely lucky. We have managed to get some absolutely fantastic people in this guild and we’re extremely proud of it. It’s all of us that make the guild what it is, not just a handful of people so keep up the hard work guys!

And then Looting...

Whilst these generally pertains to guild only runs. We hope that you exercise proper looting etiquette in mixed runs as well.

It is a good idea to use these rules even if you’re in a familiar group of friends as it will help you get used to the system on larger runs.

We mainly have two types of guild groups:

A: higher level members running lower level members through instances or assisting with quests. Here we generally use Free for All on looting. This allows the lower level member to get all that they need. Should the higher level member be looking for anything in particular, please remember that they are helping so please be willing to repay their efforts.

B: Instance or quest groups where all those in attendance are of similar level. For these groups we use Group loot.

Loot rules are as follows:General:

Do not loot any corpse until the group is out of battle. It doesn’t help to have roll windows popping up while you are still in combat and it also means that you aren’t helping your group.Bind on Equip (BoE):

Every player should roll greed on Bind on Equip (BoE). Should you need one of the items in a greed roll you can ask for that item and the winner shall then transfer that item to you.

Bind on Pickup (BoP) and Set Pieces:

EVERBODY SHOULD PASS ON BoP & SET PIECES, EVEN IF YOU NEED!

Once everybody has passed on a BoP item the group leader will establish who NEEDS the item. The members who need the item then get to roll on that item. Should nobody need the item, please pass it on to any enchanters in the group for melting. If there is no enchanter, then all members should greed roll the item for sale at a vendor. If you come across a BoP pattern that nobody can use, that will also go under a greed roll. Materials and Recipes that cannot be used by the group:Greed roll for recipes that cannot be uses by anybody in your group. Although it’s not a requirement, sending them to the guild bank would be beneficial to the other members but if you’re short of cash and need to sell them, that’s perfectly ok.Bosses:We advice group leaders to use Master Loot at bosses. This helps to prevent any accidental rolls on BoP items. The leader can then determine who needs the item and give it to the player with the highest roll.

Quest Items:Please be aware of other players while collecting quest item. Try to make sure that these items are collected equally.

Gathering Skills: Please be sure to only take your share of these items and allow other members to take their turn gathering.
